impressive ways in which drones are saving the world

Drones are no longer only military tools, they are also used in responding to natural disasters, they assist in conservation and they also deliver lifesaving aid. Disasters such as extensive harmful waste in vulnerable environments and oil spills are tackled using drones. They are also used in conducting research in areas where human kind cannot reach. Drones offer a safe solution since human beings do not have to use other expensive and intrusive methods in the areas. Drones pose a lower time, labor and risk since they are unmanned.

In natural disasters, time is of the essence. Human beings may take some time before reaching the destination since they have to plan and travel by plane or ship. Drones ( hence offer and efficient solution since they are quickly disseminated into oceans, and desserts; areas that are inhospitable to human beings and catastrophes are mitigated before they get worse. Drones have also been used to drop care packages in affected areas which is faster and more efficient.

For instance, in 2016, Zip line, the California based company began flying commercial drones from the distribution centers in Muhanga, Rwanda to more than ten hospitals in the country carrying packets of human blood to be utilized for transfusions in complicated child births and surgeries. Fixed-wing drones were used since they have a greater range and they have a higher ability to succumb to bad weather as compared to the multicopter models.

The main advantage of drones is ensuring that human beings are not exposed to inhospitable and dangerous environments. Human beings do not have to deal with extremely high temperatures or fumes, since drones can go to such places and carry out the tasks needed. Carbon emissions are a main issue due to the current threat of global warming. Ships and airplanes produce huge amounts of carbon emissions and in the past the have been sued to respond to environmental issues, monitor pollution and deliver cargo despite their emissions.

Drones on the other hand have lower levels of emissions and they can serve the same purpose. They can respond to environmental issues, they can deliver cargo and also be used in controlling and identification of pollution since they have sensors that indicate the gases released in industrial areas.

Solar farms are built in inhospitable and very remote areas. Whenever there is an issue, traditional inspection by human beings may take a long time and human beings may not bear the hot sun since to effectively spot defects, inspection should be done when the sun is at its peak. Human beings are also at a risk in the remote areas.

Drones however are more efficient since they can be used to map the areas, they can detect invasive vegetation, and they can detect dust on the solar panels and other issues that may occur as a result of strong wind or rain for example. Thermal imaging in drones can also detect if the solar panels are overheating.

Drones are also used in agriculture to monitor crops health and spraying fertilizer and pesticides. They are also used in the conservation of wildlife through surveillance and capturing evidence against poachers. Drones have saved many lives and they are yet to save many more as technology advances.
